Storz Focused Shockwave Therapy (ESWT)
A cornerstone of our regenerative medicine offerings is a revolutionary, non-invasive technology developed in Switzerland called Storz focused shockwave therapy or ESWT. It is a precision acoustic energy tool that delivers a concentrated shockwave to the correct depth of the targeted tissue. Unlike radial shockwave therapy (EPAT), there is no damage to the skin and there is a significant increase in energy at the correct target depth.
ESWT stimulates tissue repair and reduces pain through a variety of biomolecular pathways. Here is some light reading on how it works.
The versatility of ESWT in musculoskeletal conditions cannot be overstated enough. It can be used in a variety of conditions such as tendinopathy (Achilles, tennis elbow, patellar, etc…), muscle injury recovery, plantar fasciitis, osteoarthritis, carpal tunnel, trigger finger, and even to heal fractures.
There is no recovery window for ESWT making this treatment modality a highly desirable option for those constantly on the move. We do not recommend the use of anti-inflammatories for 48 hours after your treatment.
The combination of ESWT with platelet rich plasma (PRP) is a combination being studied around the world and used as our gold standard PRP treatment protocol. The minimal side effect profile of ESWT and reduction in inflammatory markers compared to PRP alone make this combination a desirable treatment option for those looking for even better benefits.
